THE PRINCIPLES
THAT DICTATE
MY DESIGNS
1. Ultralight But Durable
I crafted Leichtmut Camera Bags to be ultralight, allowing you to conserve energy and focus on what truly matters – never missing another shot. By removing unnecessary features and prioritizing essentials, I’ve created camera bags that support your adventures without holding you back.
Advanced Materials and Durability: Made with premium ultralight fabrics like Challenge Sailcloth’s Ecopak or Ultra 200, my bags are lighter than traditional toploaders while maintaining exceptional durability. These materials are trusted by leading ultralight backpack manufacturers, ensuring your gear stays protected without the extra weight.
Comfortable and Balanced Carry: My lightweight design reduces strain on your body, offering a balanced carry between your shoulder straps. This ensures comfort over long hikes, allowing you to explore further and stay energized for your photography.
Ultralight but Spacious: The Leichtmut Roamer Camera Bag is the only ultralight option that provides additional space for lenses and accessories. I also offer custom sizes, ensuring your unique camera setup fits perfectly.
Compatible with Any Backpack: Designed to operate independently, my camera bags seamlessly pair with any backpack. Unlike traditional bulky camera backpacks, you can use your main pack for other gear and access your camera without needing to take it off.
2. WEATHER PROTECTION
My Leichtmut Camera Bags provide strong weather protection, keeping your gear safe from rain, snow, and dust. When you roll your bag closed, you’ll notice it bulges, trapping air inside like a balloon. This airtight effect is a clear sign that water has a hard time coming in – what keeps air in, keeps water out.
Key Features:
Rolltop Closure: All my camera bags use a rolltop closure designed for three rolls, forming a strong barrier against water entry. Unlike zippers, which can wear out, get clogged with debris, or allow water to seep through seams, the rolltop offers a trustworthy seal. With our magnetic quick-flip system, as soon as you’ve clipped in your bag, you only need to unroll it once. From then on, you have instant access to your camera. When rain starts falling, simply roll it up again, and your gear is protected.
Minimal Seams: I design all my camera bags to have as few seams as possible. This minimizes potential water entry points, ensuring better protection and enhancing overall durability. Fewer seams mean fewer weak spots, resulting in a bag that’s built to endure.
Taped Seams: Every seam in my camera bags is taped using seam tape made specifically for their fabric. This prevents water from sneaking through the stitch holes, even in heavy rain, and strengthens the seams, adding an extra layer of durability to your bag.
Note: While the rolltop provides good protection against rain, it’s not designed for submersion. Water will eventually find its way through the rolls if the bag is fully submerged.
3. Instant Camera Access
Missing a shot because you have to unzip a bag or take off your backpack shouldn’t happen—that’s why instant access is a top priority for my Leichtmut Camera Bags. Despite featuring rolltops, our bags are designed to be unrolled once you clip them in. With our magnetic quick-flip system, you keep the bag closed and protected but can reach your camera instantly. This means you’re always ready to capture the moment, whether it’s a sudden wildlife encounter or the perfect light on a mountain peak.
Key Features:
Magnetic Quick-Flip Access: As soon as you clip the bag to your shoulder straps, the magnetic quick-flip system allows you to access your camera instantly. In the case of the larger Roamer Camera Bag, you even have enough space for additional lenses, so you can swap them quickly without taking off your backpack.
Rolltop Height Designed for Easy Access: The rolltop closure is carefully designed not to get in the way, even when the bag sits in front of your chest. It’s long enough for three rolls, ensuring protection against rain but still allowing you to flip it open with ease using our magnetic quick-flip closure.
4. Flexibility in Use
Whether you want your camera ready at your chest, hanging off your hip-belt, or tucked away on the side of your backpack, my Leichtmut Camera Bags let you decide how to carry your gear. With multiple attachment points and carabiners, you can clip the bag wherever it suits you best. And since your Leichtmut Camera Bag is designed to protect from rain, there’s no need to pack it away when the weather turns – just keep moving and stay focused on your next shot.
Carrying Options:
- Ready Access: Clip the bag in front of your chest for instant access to your camera.
- Hip-belt Carry: Attach it to one side of your hip-belt, so you can take off your backpack without needing to unclip your camera bag.
- Out of the Way: Hang it off the side or front of your backpack when carrying extra gear or when you don’t need immediate access.
Even More Flexibility with Custom Sizing and Extra Space:
I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all. In addition to standard sizes, you can order a custom-sized Leichtmut Camera Bag that perfectly fits your gear. Plus, the Roamer Camera Bag offers enough space for a second or even third lens, allowing you to swap lenses quickly without taking off your backpack.
