  • Custom Lens Bag

    Custom Lens Bag

I designed these Custom Ultralight Lens Bags so that you can safely carry additional lenses on the trail. Equipped with the same features and quality as my camera bags, these lens bags are custom-made to perfectly fit your specific lenses.

These lens bags are ideal for carrying an extra lens that doesn’t fit in your main camera bag, for bringing a lens that doesn’t need to be accessible at all times, or for creating a more flexible setup by pairing a smaller camera bag with a separate lens bag.

    Weatherproof Protection and Quick Access
Each lens bag is designed to protect from the worst of weather, thanks to its roll-top opening and taped seams. And with the magnetic quick-flip system, accessing your gear is easy and hassle-free. The magnets keep the lid securely closed while on the move and make opening the bag as quick as a flip—no zippers or buckles to slow you down.

    Flexible Carry Options
Like our camera bags, the Custom Lens Bag features two strips of attachment points, making it versatile for any setup. For instance, if you add hip-belt connectors to your order, you have your lens bag always within reach. Alternatively, carry it inside your pack, where the padding keeps your lens protected from other gear.

    HOW TO MEASURE

Measure the full length of your lens with both caps attached, and the diameter at its widest point.

Note that these bags are made with a fixed diameter across their full length, so a wide lens hood will result in a loose lens fit. You may want to consider carrying your lens hood separately.

  • The Ranger

    The Ranger

The Ranger is my ultralight take on a camera top-loader, built for hikers and photographers who need full weather protection without carrying extra grams. It holds your mirrorless or DSLR with lens attached, starting at just 57 g for the small version – which is even lighter than popular camera clips!

    Protected in any weather.
With 4 mm padding, a roll-top closure, and fully taped seams, the Ranger shields your gear from rain, snow, and grit – so you can focus on the shot, not the forecast.

Ready to shoot in a second.
My magnetic quick-flip lid means no zippers or buckles to slow you down. Just unroll the roll-top once, let the magnet snap in place, and from then on you simply flip the lid to grab your camera.

    Carry it your way.
I like mine clipped to my backpack shoulder straps with the two included carabiners. You can also mount it on your hip belt, wear it with a waist belt, strap it to your bike, or try something entirely your own – the two full rows of cord loops give you endless attachment possibilities.

    Make it yours.
Need a custom size, tougher fabric, extra padding, or unique features? Select “Custom” and configure your Ranger in six simple steps. Whether you’re wandering forest trails or tackling the mountains, you can dial it in to match your adventures.

    FEATURES & DETAILS

    Made with ultralight materials

I’ve designed my camera bags to be as light as possible (whilst still providing full protection), allowing you to conserve energy and stay focused on capturing the perfect shot.

    What this means:

    • Made with high-quality ultralight materials like Challenge Sailcloth’s Ecopak EPLX or the premium ultralight choice of Ultra 100X /200X fabrics, offering an exceptional balance of being extremely light, yet incredibly strong and durable.
    • Equipped with 4 mm padding, my tested sweet spot that provides just the right amount of protection without adding unnecessary weight.
    • I use Dyneema Composite Fabrics as the liner for my camera bags. You might know this fabric from very expensive ultralight backpacking tents and think this is a bit overkill. But it’s incredibly lightweight, waterproof and can be taped!
    • Don’t waste any weight: I’m happy to make you a custom-sized camera bag to perfectly fit your gear!

    As waterproof as possible

My camera bags provide strong weather protection, keeping your gear safe from rain, snow and dust.

    What this means:

    • The Rolltop Closure is designed for three rolls and thus forms a strong barrier against water entry. This is superior to camera bags with zippers (even if the zip keeps water out, the zipper seams that can’t really be taped let water in).
    • Both the external fabric and internal liner are fully waterproof. To make the best use of this, I’ve designed my camera bags with as few seams as possible. All remaining seams (except for the hem that’s hidden in the rolls) are taped to prevent water sneaking through the stitch holes.
    • Typical camera bags would sew the external fabric and internal liner together to sandwich the padding in-between. I don’t do this, because this makes it impossible to properly tape and seal the camera bag! Instead, I tape my liner to the inside of the shell. This eliminates extra seams and actually improves water protection thanks to my chosen waterproof liner fabric.
    • This makes these bags as waterproof as possible without much heavier fabrics and industrial welding equipment. It doesn’t mean 100 % waterproof, since I make all bags by hand and seam taping can sometimes trap tiny air bubbles. But with two layers of waterproof fabrics and taped seams (liner + shell fabric), it gets as close to perfect as possible.

Note: While the rolltop provides excellent protection against rain, it’s not designed for submersion.

    Camera access in seconds

The rolltop is designed to be unrolled once you’re ready to hike or get ready to shoot. Then, my magnetic quick-flip system offers both quick access and sufficient protection on the move.

    How does it work?

    • Magnets clip both sides of the rolltop together. When you fold the rolltop down, another magnet holds it securely in place.
    • To access your camera, simply lift and open the folded-down lid in a single movement.
    • The rolltop height is carefully designed not to get in the way, even when the bag sits in front of your chest.

    Lots of attachment options

You decide how you carry your camera bag outdoors – thanks to multiple attachment points, two included carabiners and lots of additional attachment options.

    • Use carabiners or shoulder strap connectors to attach to daisy chain on your backpack shoulder straps
    • Use hip-belt connectors to attach to the side of your hip-belt. You can feed your hip-belt through the connectors and cinch them tight, or feed the connectors through attachment points on your hip-belt to additionally secure your bag.
    • A simple shoulder sling or waist belt allows you to carry your camera bag without a backpack. In case of the shoulder sling, I recommend the custom upgrade of extra side attachment points for a more balanced and comfortable carry.
    • I’m currently working on more options like a three point strap, a buckle kit and bike attachments!

    Custom upgrades available!

My standard camera bag is designed to be ultralight, protective and quickly accessible – full focus on these features, nothing else. But you can configure your custom bag to add options that make it the perfect camera bag for you!

    • The External Stretch Pocket gives you extra accessible space. Great for phones, snacks, maps, lens caps and more. Made of durable UltraStretch material (with UHMWPE fibers).
    • Extra Side Attachment Points provide better balance as a shoulder sling camera bag. You could also use these as additional connection options for extra security. They are reinforced with extra fabric from the inside.
    • An Internal Security Loop is a loop sewn into the inside of the hem. You can use this to tie your camera to the bag to catch it in case of a drop.
    • 3D Mesh on Body Side adds an additional layer of cushioning to the side of the bag that touches your body, as well as some breathability. This may be useful if you mainly intend to use it with a waist belt that pulls the bag close to your body.

    Sizing

The Ranger is built around a tapered protective foam box – wider at the opening, narrowing toward the lens end. The standard sizes are built so that cameras at the listed max dimensions will smoothly fit.

    Small
For small mirrorless cameras with a standard zoom or prime attached. Max camera dimensions: 15 × 12.5 × 8.5 cm (length × width × height). This fits cameras like the Fujifilm X-T30, OM System OM-5, MFT bodies, and similar.

    Large
For full-frame mirrorless or typical DSLR cameras with a standard zoom or prime attached. Max camera dimensions: 18 × 14 × 10 cm (length × width × height). This fits cameras like the Sony A7 IV, Nikon Z6, Canon EOS R6, Fujifilm X-T5, and similar.

    Custom Size
Every setup is different, and no standard size fits all. That’s why I offer custom sizing – especially useful for longer or shorter lenses, and for extra-large camera bodies like the Nikon Z8 or medium-format cameras. You can choose the standard tapered geometry, or configure a rectangular bag.

Simply configure a custom bag and provide your camera’s dimensions. I’ll build your bag so it perfectly fits your gear, while still allowing you to smoothly insert and withdraw your camera.

NOTE: Always measure your camera setup manually. Manufacturer dimensions often understate the true width (strap attachment lugs are frequently excluded), and listed body and lens lengths don’t always add up to the correct total length. Measure your actual gear.

    Weight

Note: I have made some construction changes to improve bag strength and waterproofing since weighing all these options, so they will likely weigh 5-10g more.

    Size Small
    Weight for Ultra 100 X: 57 g
    Weight for EPLX 200: 72 g
    Weight for X-Pac RX30: 84 g
Weight for EPLX400: tbd, similar to RX30

    Size Large
    Weight for Ultra 100 X: 70 g
    Weight for EPLX 200: 86 g
    Weight for X-Pac RX30: 100 g
    Weight for EPLX400: 109 g

I create each bag by hand and weights can vary slightly. Weights are measured without carabiners.

    Materials

    Shell:
    Choice of Ecopak EPLX 200, Ultra 100 X or X-Pac RX30

EcoPak EPLX 200 is my standard fabric—eco-friendly, lightweight, and durable. Choose X-Pac RX30 if you’d like more beautiful color options (and don’t mind a little extra weight). For the toughest tear and abrasion resistance at the lowest weight, pick Ultra 100X with its extra-strong UHMWPE fibers.

    Padding:
    4 mm Evazote EV50

    Liner:
    Dyneema® Composite Fabric CT2K.18, 34gsm

  • The Slinger

    The Slinger

The Slinger is the more everyday-focused version of my ultralight camera bags. It builds on the same quick-access and weatherproof roll-top design, but adds a few practical features: a front zip pocket, side stretch pockets, a velcro back pocket, and bottom straps for a small tripod or water bottle. Inside, the Slinger is lined with a soft, velcro-like fabric.

    Sized for essentials.
S is deliberately compact, similar to typical bum bags, and fits a small camera alongside daily essentials like keys, wallet, and phone. L should comfortably fit most DSLR or mirrorless cameras. I’m happy to build you a custom size to perfectly fit your gear.

    Padded and protected.
I glue the 4 mm padding directly to the external fabric, which not only protects your camera but also gives the bag a sturdy shape. Waterproof materials, a roll-top closure, and fully taped seams help protect your gear and essentials from rain.

    Quick to reach.
My roll-top quick-access design is what sets this bag apart from other everyday slings. Unroll once, let the magnet snap into place, and from then on just flip the lid to grab your camera or everyday items. No zippers or buckles to slow you down.

    Carry it your way.
The Slinger comes with an adjustable strap with a magnetic buckle. It works well as a waist bag or shoulder sling and is quick to adapt. Two carabiners are also included to clip it to your backpack shoulder straps when hiking (though it works just as well in town or on your bike).

Slinger vs Scout / Ranger / Roamer

The Slinger is both similar and different to my other bags. It shares the same quick-access and weatherproof roll-top design, but it adds features.

My other bags don’t have those features on purpose. Without them, they stay ultralight. Fewer features also mean fewer seams, which is easier to keep watertight.

The Slinger goes the other way. I built it with extra features to make it more practical for everyday life. That leads to a trade-off: it’s not as lightweight, and harder to waterproof.

I still tape every single seam, like always. But a seam that isn’t there will always be better.

  • Ultralight Drone Bag

    Ultralight Drone Bag

The Drone Bag is my ultralight solution for drone enthusiasts who need a compact, weatherproof, and highly functional bag to carry their drone and accessories into the outdoors.

With quick access thanks to the magnetic lid (when unrolled), it’s designed to keep your drone and controller ready to go at a moment’s notice, so you can spend more time flying and less time fumbling with zippers or buckles.

Two velcro-secured dividers create three separate compartments to keep your gear organized and protected. The standard size fits a DJI Mini 4 Pro or Mini 5 Pro with RC 2 controller (steering sticks attached) and two stacked batteries, and weighs just 125 g. Custom sizes are built around your specific drone and controller, with a third compartment included where dimensions allow.

The Drone Bag attaches easily to your backpack shoulder straps or hip-belt via the supplied carabiners, and additional attachment accessories and features are available if needed.

Custom sizing available – just provide your gear dimensions when configuring your order and I’ll work out the bag from there!

    What this means:

    • The Rolltop Closure is designed for three rolls and thus forms a strong barrier against water entry.

    • The external fabric is fully waterproof. To prevent water from sneaking through stitch holes, all external seams are fully taped. To further minimize any risk, we designed the outer shell with as few seams as possible (consists of two pieces only!).

Note: While the rolltop provides excellent protection against rain, it’s not designed for submersion.

    Instant Camera Access

The rolltop is designed to be unrolled once you clip in the camera bag or get ready to shoot. Then, our magnetic quick-flip system offers both instant access and sufficient protection on the move.

    How does it work?

    • Magnets clip both sides of the rolltop together. When you fold the rolltop down, another magnet holds it securely in place.

    • To access your camera, simply lift and open the folded-down lid in a single movement.

    Recommended Carrying Options:

    • Clip between your shoulder straps for instant camera access.

    • Attach to the side of your hip-belt to take off your backpack without unclipping the bag.

    • Hang it off the side or front of your backpack when you don’t need immediate access.

    Integrated Handle
Use the closed rolltop to carry the bag when it’s not clipped in (or an extension strap between two attachment points)

    Custom Size

Configure a custom bag with a custom size and I’ll build it around your drone and controller dimensions for the smallest possible footprint. Your gear will be oriented vertically along its longest axis, and arranged side by side or front to back so the bag is wider than it is deep – keeping the weight close to your body. Depending on your dimensions, I’ll add a third compartment for batteries or small accessories. Simply enter your drone and controller length, width, and depth in the fields above and I’ll take it from there. Want to confirm the final layout first? Email me at jacob@leichtmut.de.

    Standard Size

The standard bag is specifically designed for the DJI Mini 4 Pro and Mini 5 Pro with controller and two batteries. It may also fit other models with similar dimensions, like the Mini 3 Pro – measure your gear against the compartment dimensions below to check.
